You kiss your mama with that mouth?!

So, yesterday the t.v. was on and some guy said a naughty word...sounds like shmammit..starts with a "d." You know. Lily immediately repeated what he said, in the loud, angry tone he said it. I told her "no" and blah blah blah.

Then this morning, I hear her say something that sounded an awful lot like it, only I didn't think she'd remember such an angry expression. A couple hours later, we're paying at the register in the grocery store. I tell the cashier it's a debit. She repeated it back, "Debit?" Lily got very excited--her favorite new word--or so she thought. She yells, "DEMMIT!" Okay, this little child has a VERY loud voice. Not dainty or demure at all. Then she went crazy and started screaming it over and over. It echoed through the aisles. I do not swear. Steve does not swear. But with how much passion Lily had for this word, I'm sure the gathering crowd thought she was an old pro.

My sweet, sparkly eyed daughter that plays with pink bunnies and dollies has a potty mouth. I'm going to try to teach her that what's she's saying sounds bad. But...it was hilarious just the same. I just know the next time she chooses to share her new expression will be during Sacrament Meeting.

  3. Yeah, I had a similar thing happen to me. Although it was my own fault! Kids soon teach you what you can't say!

  4. Mariska is a big fan of "Oh Crap"... no, she didn't get it from tv. I am thankful that's the worst of it so far.

  5. I think it's better to know what word they're saying than to not know what the heck it is...Anyone have a clue what "Ziabpaday" means? Yeah, me either.

If you can't say something nice, say it behind my back.
