My name is Amy.

And I'm a chap-a-holic.

If I were on a deserted islands, the two things I would want to have with me: water & Carmex.

Yes--before food...before clean underwear...before toilet paper--I would want my Carmex.

Not any chapstick will do. All the rest are simply inferior.

In my 72-hour emergency first aid kit, what do I have stocked? Band-aids and Carmex. Boxes and boxes of Carmex.

The thought of surviving some catastrophic disaster without Carmex, gives me anxiety. Big time.

The idea that one day, I might not be able to hydrate my lips at any given moment sends little panic signals through my veins.

Even now, knowing I have at least 15 strewn throughout the house, just thinking that someday I might not have a righteous supply, makes me a little queasy.

I think I'm sick.

But there is no better feeling than smoothing Carmex onto dry lips. It's like that feeling when you take a drink of water when you're really thirsty and being able to feel the water going down into your gut.

I do love hydration.

I can't fall asleep at night if I don't have a sufficient coating on. Sometimes I just lie there and try to decide if I have enough on to last through the night...and it keeps me up. (Kind of like the pee thing. You lie down after going through your bedtime ritual and not until you're all cozy does it hit you that you have to pee a little. So you think, "Can I hold it all night?" "I should just go or I won't be able to go to sleep." "I don't want to get out of bed! I don't want to move!" "But if I don't go, is there a chance I could wet my bed?" "No, I'm too old for that. I'm almost positive." So you finally just decide to get up and pee what little you have in store or you surely won't be able to fall asleep. No? Just me then? Ok. Back to chapstick.)

Carmex completes me. I don't care if I have any make-up on--which happens more often than not. (My hatred of make-up is a whole other rant.) If I have Carmex on...I feel put together.

I once heard that the makers of chapsticks put little tiny shreds of fiberglass so you get addicted to them...

...if that's the case...

...it has worked.

I love you.

I love you.

I love you.

  1. I gotta say... you sound slightly on the chapstick-junkie-side.

  2. Ha ha! I love Carmex. It has to be carmex or Natural ice, because it makes my lips feel tingly. There is nothing worse than chapped lips. I am so with you!

  3. I think you should sent this to the Carmex company and maybe they will use it for there next commercial :) & then.. you would get a lifetime supply for FREE! :) woohoo

  4. I am the same way with the pee thing!

So are all the sticks used or do open a new one when one is all gone or do have them placed six feet within each other scattered around the house?

  5. I am a Lip Smackers girl myself. If I am going to wear chapstick, I want it to taste good... :) That's why I don't like original Chapstick. Ew. I haven't really tried any other. They all just make my taste buds cringe.

If you can't say something nice, say it behind my back.
