"I never eat December snowflakes. I always wait until January."

Jack Frost finally gave it up. Perfect timing too...right as December is rolling in.

This is yesterday afternoon, when the flurries started falling...
(Jealous of my lush front yard...aren't ya!)

This morning at 7:30...(same shots)

Even though I would rather swear off dairy than ever drive in snow again, I do love snow. It makes everything so quiet. And even when it's dark, the snow makes it seem like there are lights on everywhere. It's so pretty. Let's not forget the fun clothes. Mittens, scarfs, big coats with fur collars, and beenies! And if you've never had your picture taken in snow, you should try it sometime. Everyone looks fabulous...the best photo studios can't duplicate the lighting the snow gives off!

We're off to get our tree today. I probably won't love the snow so much by the time we get home.

  5. ah! i wonder if we got any snow this weekend...if it got cold enough...but OF course we headed north to troy's folks so we'd miss it. :) but i hear you about driving in it! i have only done it ONCE and i could barely call it that...it just barely started and sticking to the road...but it TERRIFIED me....i was pregnant too...but luckily no labor :)

and i agree with erika! i LOVE the muppets christmas carol...i mean to combine the muppets AND sesame street for one happy evening...SHEER BRILIANCE! it is such a classic! i wanna go watch it right NOW!

  6. We didn't make snow angels...if you aren't wearing some type of water-resistant stuff, then you just get wet and cold. Maybe tomorrow.

There's a reason I never wanted to watch Muppets Christmas Carol.

  7. Sesame Street? There isn't anything about Sesame Street on Muppet's Christmas Carol... Why haven't you wanted to see it Amy? Its a musical and the songs are so amazing, I litereally cry during like 3 songs every time I watch it, very powerful lyrics. And that means a lot from someone who doesn't pay attention to lyrics well.

  8. There are just some things I have no desire to see. Like Napoleon Dynamite. I had absolutely no desire to see it EVER! If I lived my whole life and never saw it, my life would have been complete. Unfortunately, one day Steve stumbled on it on TNT or some channel and I happened to be in the room. I managed to stay awake through most of it. An hour and a half of my life that I will never get back. So sad.

  9. Well you're missing out. Muppet's Christmas Carol is full of Christmas family fun. Napolian Dynamite is really funny the more you watch it.

  10. I'm with Erika here, kids. Muppet Christmas Carol is by far the most superior Christmas movie out there. Surprisingly, it also happens to be one of the more accurate depictions of Dickens' classic. "It's true wherever you find love, it feels like Christmas!" Powerful.

Elf, too. New to the playing field, but how can you not love it?

And I'm only a little jealous of you people who live in the snow. It would be grand to have a white Christmas. Instead, we're just excited that it rained for the first time this year and cleared the smog out for the week...

  11. HAHAHAHAHA!! sorry erika! yeah muppets christmas carol does NOT have sesame street in it...it was a LONG day yesterday on top of dealing with sick kids all week...and it looks like one of them is getting sick again...*sigh*

anyway i was thinkin about another one...i can't even remember the name...does anyone know it?? does anyone even know which one i'm talking about...it was like 20ish years ago.

but i DO love the muppets christmas carol too! we have it...tis the season to break it out!

  12. We've watched it 3 times already!! And yeah Maxine, I love how accurate it is, it's almost word for word with the book. But not only is is very moving and powerful, but has a perfect balance of humor added. What a great movie, you even almost completely forget they are puppets! You're out numbered Amy... just watch it!!! Mariska even loves it.

  13. OH, well why didn't you say so...since a two year old loves it... :P

Maybe someday I'll watch it. And here's what I don't get...if N. Dynamite sucks the first time--what possesses all you people to keep watching it, waiting for it to "get funnier?" Never understood the need to waste more time than necessary.

Christina, you need to give a few more details than it's 20 years old. What is it about, etc...?

Personally, I think the best version of A Christmas Carol is Mickey's Christmas Carol.

  14. okay...let me see...the muppets go to visit like fozzy's grandmother or up in a cabin somewhere in the mountains. they all end up there. and there even is a feature of the fraggles that live under the house or something like that. there is a blizzard and they are stuck and EVERYONE ends up having to spend the night, miss piggy gets caught in the storm but makes it safely eventually...and even the sesame street characters show up (which makes it funny since kermit is from sesame street AND the muppets) because they were out caroling. the chef was to make dinner and was to cook a turkey, but the turkey was clever and was able to hide and avoid him for a while...once he was actually caught he convinced the chef that big bird was a much better choice...that is up untill big bird gives the chef a present. :)

does that help?? OHH i LOVE that movie...

  15. yeah and amy, i TOTALY agree with you about napoleon dynamite! EVERYONE sung its praises so we went out and rented/borrowed it...all i can say is i HOPE we just borrowed it because i hoped we didn't actually SPEND $$ on it! i have been told you have to be in the right mood...like drunk? and be with a group of people to be it;s funniest. i don't know that type of humor i don't get i suppose...there was a few mildly funny places if i remember...but that was IT!
