sweet

Did you ever make something so drippy and tempting that you knew you weren't going to eat?

Boston Cream. I love Boston Cream...anything.

I made this ooey, gooey cake over two days...blood, sweat, and tears...and then had to say goodbye.

(Actually pretty easy to make, tho the tears part is true--I knew there was an impending separation.)

I did get to lick the bowl, so it wasn't a total loss.

This other one was yogurty goodness. I can't take credit for it. I did make it...but Chelcie (my sis-n-law) introduced is and told me how to make it.

Yogurt. Whipped Cream. Pie Crust. Badda bing. Badda boom.

So cheap, so simple, so good.

  1. I think I would have to give the boston cream pie away or risk eating the whole thing myself. I think my stomach growled when I saw the pictures.

I'm thinking of writing "Bite Me" on the pinewood derby cake next week and then walking out. What do you think?

  2. I just noticed that I did a lot of "thinking" in that last post. I THINK I need to consult a Thesaurus.

  3. Hehehe...that made me laugh. What else could you say without sounding pompous?

You have to take a picture of the derby cake.

  4. Um, how do we work it out so that that Boston cream cake is in my tummy?

  5. That looks really good.

I want it. Is there a recipe? For the cake, I mean. The pie looks easy enough.

  6. Max, just think about it in your tummy. That's what I did and I saved a couple thousand calories. Just not the same for some reason.

Dan, I added a link to the recipe in the post. I meant to do that before.

  7. If anyone does try to make it...two things...

    1. Don't wait till the custard/pudding comes to a full boil like it says. Stop cooking when it gets really thick but not boiling. Trust me.

    2. Don't over bake the cake part. Keep a good watch and take it out precisely when the toothpick comes out pretty clean.

...despite the longness of the recipe, it's actually pretty easy.

If you can't say something nice, say it behind my back.
